Some of us were able to hit the Qorikancha in Cusco, the original primary Inca religious site besides Sacsayhuaman. The majority of the Inca palace was covered in sheets of gold, and golden relics filled the center plaza. It was the center of the Inca empire, out from which Inca rule radiated to the four sections of its empire.

When the Spanish arrived, they built, as in much of Cusco, directly atop the Inca walls, which had proven their earthquake superiority. The Spanish put their main monastery, Santo Domingo, directly here atop Qorikancha.
